rant time

just some small rants this time, finally got my tram ticket fine thingie, after thinking about it for a few weeks, i'll probably just pay the stupid fine, considering the unlikely event that i would beat the stupid system, and the fact that i'd have to go to court. i'm not admitting blame, i still blame the fact that the machine on the tram (and at the tram stop) doesn't take notes, and there is no warning anywhere that says anything about it. i'll stand by that to the day i die, and also that the ticket inspector was the biggest fuckwit cunt ever, there, i said it.

number two, i'd like to petition yahoo to stop using yahoo maps, and start using google maps which are ten times better (outside the us & a i think), you can actually see machu picchu on the map, whereas yahoo you zoom in about 20% and they tell you they don't have a picture at that level, then when you try to place the picture they tell you to go to a higher zoom level for better accuracy (i'm talking about flickr of course) which of course provides you nothing but grey with black text. and then there's the search, case and point, i was looking for cruz del condor near arequipa in peru, and while it shows up in panoramio (though not at the highest zoom level), it doesn't in flickr, ok, fair enough, it's just a lookout point, so i look up the nearby towns that i remember, chivay and cabanaconde, neither of which return in the search results, but then when i search the map, after a while, i can actually see chivay on the map, doesn't say much for their search algorithm, might be a good thing microsoft took over. anyway, google maps i find are infinitely more usable and more detailed as far as my experience goes.

hopeless dreamhost

well, it seems that dreamhost is down again, well, the mysql server on dtraCorp is at least. meaning that my site is inaccessible, and that i get endless emails (not from worried readers, but automated notifications) telling me that the site is down. i'm pretty sure they used to have an auto response when you logged a trouble ticket, now it doesn't even seem that they have that, so i don't have a clue what's going on. and then i see someone complaining post about another host with basically the same features (that i can see quickly), http://bluehost.com, and here i am just having signed up for a fair well longer, and stuck with this shit box. well, i'm going away on thursday anyway, so either you won't read anything here for months and months, or there will be a lot of rants intertwined with travel posts here.

review: commonwealth bank travellers cash (pathetic)

originally posted at dtraCorp (commonwealth bank travellers cash), i'm surprised that i couldn't find that any one had complained publicly about this yet, well, let's just hope that they get their act together. paragraphs two, three, and four are the most damning.

backup blog

obviously i don't want to do this permanently, but with pathetic dreamhost cutting me off again, i have to post here for the time being. i finally got it fixed up last night about 11pm, and now i check my site because i want to post a rant about the commonwealth bank, and i get this failed connection shit. i bet it's because they're so childish that they couldn't take my most recent post about them being shit and all. sure i'm only paying $10 bux a month or whatever, but it's my money, and they're offering the service, you'd think they could handle what they offer.

anyway, i'll be posting stuff here whenever http://dtracorp.com is down, and sometimes when i want to rant, but i don't want it to be on my site. commonwealth bank will be served next...
